The main reason why reception areas are so impactful regarding first impressions is because this is the place of arrivals and departures, along with the waiting and socializing that happens in between. That being said, it's only natural that a company would pay attention to the way this area is designed. While there's no way a one guide fits all type of approach would be useful or even possible to come up with, it is safe to say that there are two main types of settings that prevail: homey and edgy.
