Song Lyrics That Tell A Story
People identify with music in various ways. Some pay more attention to the lyrics than others, some like the melody and others just listen to music when they want to relax. Different stories are told in different ways. Lyrics and melody have their own path to the human soul. It makes people more human, it gives them comfort or it just makes their time go faster. Why is that? Music like other types of art tells a story. Actually, it is the song lyrics that tell a story. That’s how we connect with people. When you’re talking to your friends or family you exchange stories. Somehow, you end up discussing life and experiences; you realize some things you haven’t noticed before, and so on.
Through songs people do more than tell their version of the story. They tell other people’s stories, share similar destiny, feelings… All in all there’s a common comfort that’s been offered through music. And it may sound silly, but somehow people manage to get their strength as soon as some lyric or melody comes on. How many times in your life have you found yourself in a situation like that? Maybe music won’t actually change your life, but it will get you moving from one point to another.
When you watch music talent shows, does it occur to you that certain people get more attention than others? Have you ever wondered why? It’s because they tell a story through songs. A real one. People listen to their interpretation and sometimes they cry, even though they have heard the original version over thousand times. Somehow that particular performance took their breath away. Those performers took their feelings and showed them to you and made you remembered a similar situation. That’s how we choose music genres. Some songs make us more emphatic and speak a closer language than others. When we listen to music we’re in our comfort zone and are more vulnerable than ever.
Do you sing when you listen to music? Most people do. Through singing you release bad energy and you feel more relieved when you’re done. You don’t have to be talented to sing. When you have things going on and you want to blow up the world, turn on some music and forget about everything for a second. Close your eyes and try to relax. Start singing and don’t think about the neighbors or what other people may say. Right now it’s just you and the story that’s being told through some stranger’s words that feels more close to you than your closest friends. Make sense? It doesn’t have to. What’s important is to search for things that make you happy and fulfilled, whether it is playing sports, hanging out with friends, or other things that complete you. Some people try to compose music, which often turns out to be a great medicine. Other than that, there will always be a certain song that will make your day. Don’t let small unnecessary things get to you and let the songs comfort you with their story and move on!
